Lost Bison Ranch has had two owners since the original homestead family. The homestead era, with modern comforts, is beautifully recreated in historically renovated buildings on west side: main cabin, sleeping cabin, bunkhouse, converted barn. Restoration was completed in 1993 by T. Baird Construction and featured in the book "Old Wood New Home," by G. Lawson Drinkard III , Audrey Hall, (Gibbs Smith Publisher) 2000. To see this book on Amazon.com, click on the link.

The property's west side has new buildings that include a gorgeous horse barn, storage shed, large garage and greenhouse. The project was completed in 2002 by Yellowstone Traditions of Bozeman (Candace Miller, architect) using predominantly old material to blend in with historic structures. The property also features a large organic vegetable garden and orchard, pens, riding arena, two wells and septic field.

The east side is accessible by a bridge built in 1992. Improvements include: pavilion outdoor kitchen with wood-burning stove and spring water, two rustic ěsleepingî cabins with outhouses.

The conservation easement allows one additional development site on the East side of the property for a main house and outbuildings, plans for which can be included in the sale. The current owner is seeking a conservation-minded buyer who will continue the tradition of care and respect for the land.
